The left panel of Altarpiece to my Childhood depicts a playful toddler full of joys and dreams at a time in life when one is faced with the challenge of starting school and introduction to a new social construct. This is a time of upheaval and new experiences. The piece represents that moment when a child discovers that some dreams cannot come true; they seem to be squished by others.
